Topeka, KS – Midwestern Metals/Custom Dredge Works, is a family owned metal fabrication business, which specializes in designing and manufacturing different types of products that are used for aggregate mining. Due to substantial growth, the organization has out grown its current space. The father and son team decided last month that it was time expand.

Midwestern Metals/ Custom Dredge Works will be taking over the entire west side of the Meier’s Industrial Park located at 1105 NW Lower Sliver Lake Road, here in Topeka, KS on August 8th, 2012. This expansion will increase the organization’s goals and future operation projects. It’s estimated that the current workspace of 60,000 sq ft will increase to over 100,000 sq ft. This expansion will allow for the Midwestern Metals/ Custom Dredge Works office employees and engineers to have private offices, allowing them focus on business related activities in an effective and productive manner. The extra space will provide the shop area to have larger pieces of equipments, such as overhead cranes, and custom built dredges. This space will also provide more storage for the parts room, increasing the overall inventory and production of parts and equipment. Dredge Transport Services, or DTS, will become an added addition to overall expansion process. This will allow for the shipping and receiving department to have its own section of the Meier’s building providing the employees with their own office.

Midwestern Metals/ Custom Dredge Works Vice President John Jones had this to say about the expansion. “Ultimately the goal for us is to be a top player in the dredge marketplace and we need to produce more at a better value to our clients to do that. The larger facility with better handling equipment will let us build more dredges faster than ever before. Plus it will have a larger parts room so we can stock more dredge parts and increase our already large parts inventory.”
